The
first
thing to
keep in mind when using our Pure Body Oil
is that, like wine, the oil must
breathe and oxidize.
You won't get an
accurate impression of the scent by
smelling it straight from the bottle. The best way to do this is to
allow it to air on one’s skin or on a test strip.
How can
you duplicate a fragrance?
Fragrance
duplication is done by chemical analysis of the original
fragrance and creating a recipe. This recipe is used to
duplicate the
original scent in an oil version by leaving out the alcohol and
dilutants. Sometimes the alcohol actually adds a quality to the scent.
For example, Victoria, which was discontinued by Victoria's Secret
takes on a slightly more greener note without the alcohol.
This green
note is more prevalent in the body oil duplicate.
Does
the thickness or thinness of the oil affect the
quality of the oil?
Not
at
all. The thickness or thinness of the oil has nothing to do with it's
quality. Many of the strongest smelling oils are thin in texture, the
thinner the more of the characteristics of the medley is
released.
For example, Party Punch body oil sold on our website is extremely thin
in
texture, but
is one of our strongest and most vibrant oils. The notion that the
thicker
the oil the stronger is a misconception. Only a few of oils are thick,
i.e.
Egyptian Musk which although it is thick in texture is actually a
rather soft, mild scent.

perfumer's lab.
Is
there a
difference between perfume oil, fragrance oil, and body oil?
Many
oils that are not meant for the body are being sold as body oils. There
are
fragrance oils which many times are mistaken for body oils but in fact
are meant to be used for candle scents, oil burners and incense,
etc. The
majority of time, these oils aren't harmful to the body, but are
inferior grades of oil. Skin, safe oils are mainly used for
soapmaking and cosmetic making which is OK but is formulated in a way
that makes it easy to incorporate into other ingredients. PURE BODY
OILS and oils that are meant to scent the body by themselves and can be
applied directly to the skin for the purpose of using as a perfume and
blended in recipes to create lotions, soaps and body sprays.
Why
does the color of oil seem to change from time to time?
Depending
on the season, oils will
differ in color because of the crop season and the region in which the
crop was raised in. Jasmine blooms from India will have a slight
difference in color than Jasmine blooms from South Africa. Since most
oils have
natural ingredients, the time of year they are created will have
bearing on the color and the region in which they thrived may have an
effect on their scent.
What is
the
shelf life of your oils?
Since our oils
do not contain any
alcohol or water, evaporation is not an issue. Oils that are kept
away from extreme heat and sunlight, can last for many years. The only
thing
that could change is the
color. Some oils actually get richer smelling with maturity. This is
called marrying.
